WHAT IS GENDLIN FOCUSING

Focusing means working directly with the real wisdom in the body rather than remaining endlessly fascinated by the various presumptions and conclusions we are constantly processing in our heads.

 

  • Focusing is a special way of being with and listening to oneself and others.
  • This unique simple process gets you out of your head and into your body.
  • It brings you down to earth.

 

Based firmly on what actually works to bring positive change and growth, focusing involves listening in the body to the way that everything that we experience, including individual people, relationships, situations, and ideas is being carried within ourselves.

 

Focusing really listens directly to the body. In this way we are encouraged to drop deeper and deeper into ourselves, listening and learning from the wisdom and inner experience that lies here inside our being. .

 

Focusing invites us to move into a true shared friendship with our body, soul, and higher consciousness in a spirit of genuine listening, respect and compassion

 

This way our whole being comes to really feel and know that it is being heard. And when it feels this it slowly imparts it's wisdom and shares it's understanding, blessing us with a powerful clarity and insight, bringing us true awareness and moving us to positive change.

 

 

Focusing can facilitate deep levels of change and insight that could never happen through working on these issues with the intellect alone.

 

Focusing as a process is both gentle and direct. It's results are often life changing and profound. It connects us simply and directly with the wisdom and inner knowing which each of us contains deep inside our own being.

And once you have learned the basic skills, focusing may be done by oneself, shared with a partner, or pursued in a more formal structured therapy setting.
